Windows 10: External 3.0 USB Driver Error

External USB 3.0 continues to give me a "Driver Error" and will not let a Toshiba External Drive start. Has anyone had this problem. Check driver version and it says current drive is ok. Have had no problems until just recently can't determine which Windows update my have caused problem.

Can you send us a screenshot of the error message? We suggest uninstalling and re-installing USB drivers and check if the issue persists. To do that, please follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  
• Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Right-click on the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on
  Uninstall to remove it.
• Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Restart the computer. Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

USB 3.0 Question

That is the add in I have. I got it off the CM store. They also list an adapter, but I've yet to see it listed as in stock and can't seem to find any others.

 

RW external driver installed and windowns 10 delivers an "error driver" message, aitomatic fix did NOT work, any suggestions?

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to try the below method and check if it helps.

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it helps.

1. Click on search bar next to Start Menu.

2. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and click on
Troubleshooting.

3. Click on View All on the left panel of the screen.

4. Click on Hardware and Devices.

5. Click on Next and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the USB driver for the computer and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps:

• 
  Press Windows and X together and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate the Universal Serial Bus Controller and expand the driver icon.
  
• 
  Right Click on all the USB driver icon and select
  Uninstall.
  

Restart the computer. After restarting the computer, USB driver will automatically be installed.
