Windows 10: External hard drive bitlocker issue

when i plugged into my Seagate external hard drive, i accidentally click bitlocker encryption button.

Screen pop up and did a scan. I tried to hit the pause button and then power down my laptop.


The bitlocker did not complete the scan and encryption. It was only 10 sec within the process and

no recovery password or code generated


External disk driver used to able to be seen as D: Seagate (name of drive)

Now, explorer only show D: Local Drive


When the system is up again, the D drive - external device is not accessible

(a)Volume date is locked by bitlocker

(b) Right click D drive, give me error message, incompatible windows bitlocker version

(i used windows 10 and its the latest verison)

(c) i ran cmd, run as administrator

Try the following command

manage-bde -off D:

manage-bde -status D: (no drive information seen)
manage-bde –autounlock -enable D:

manage-bde -status


THERE ARE NO RECOVERY PASSWORD



I can not right click the D:\Local drive, so i am not able to access properties administrator rights


I can go to device management, and able to see C: and D:\Seagate (name of device)

but under D: drive tab, there are no policy under security


It seems that the date and drive is healthy

It the first sector or partition are not accessible due to bitlocker, but the process was not completed


I also got this error code 0x80070057 volume locked


PLEASE HELP !!

Dont ask me to use a recoverable passcode, there is NONE generated

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Bitlocker on multiple external drives

The issue could occur if bitlocker settings is incorrect.

I suggest you to try decrypting the volume for the multiple external drives and then reset the bitlocker for the multiple drives.
