External Hard Drive Does Not Appear on My Computer

I have been using my Seagate Backup Plus 5TB Portable Hard Drive since for about 9 months. Three days ago the drive stopped showing up on My Computer.

I tried to Update the Driver.

I tried to Uninstall the Drive and Restart my computer.

I tried to Uninstall the USB and restart the computer.

I have tried multiple computers and multiple USB Slots

When I plug the drive in I hear a chime sound and the "Sleep and Charge Ready" appears on my computer. The Safely Remove (Eject Hard Drive) appears to eject the drive. The drive also appears on my Disk Management Screen (Although it shows the drive is empty) I tried to initialize the disk again and it says "the disk is not ready" Any Ideas? I really don't want to lose all the files I have stored on this External Hard Drive Does Not Appear on My Computer b8cea6dc-2ca5-4b21-9157-bbfb98e7d5ff?upload=true.png

unrecognised external hard drive on Windows 10

Since you already reinstalled the drivers of the External Hard Drive, let's run the
Hardware and Devices troubleshooter as it can resolve your concern. You can do that by following these steps:

    • Press the Start button.

    • Type and select Troubleshooting.

    • Click on View all on the left panel.

    • Select and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

If the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter doesn’t resolve your concern, we suggest that you change the letter of the External Hard Drive. You can do that by following these steps:

    • Press the Start button.

    • Type and select Control panel.

    • Select System and Security.

    • Select Administrative Tools, and a new window will appear.

    • Double-click Computer Management, and a new window will appear.

    • Select Disk Management that is located under
      Storage
      in the left pane.

    • Right click on the External Hard Drive that is not showing on the File Explorer.

    • Select Change letter and network path, and a new window will appear.

    • Select Change, and choose the letter that you want for the External Hard Drive.

After changing the letter of the External Hard Drive, we suggest that you reboot your laptop for the changes to take effect.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.

  3. External Hard Drives not appearing on computer

Today I was editing some photos that I had taken on a recent trip. I had two external hard drives connected, so that I could save the final editing from my PC to these external hard drives. I tried to burn the photo files to a cd, but ended up just transferring
the files, because nothing worked. (I am using Windows 10, upgraded from Windows 8.1).

So, when I finished the above, I thought I should save the final photos to my external hard drives, but they were not appearing on my computer. No where! Then, when I rebooted my computer and connected an external hard drive that is very new, it, too,
did not appear. What have I done wrong?

    Thanks for your help.
