    [Windows 10 laptop, fully up to date]I bought a new Seagate Expansion 2 TB hard disk yesterday.I used it and copied 200 GB data on it. Which copied successfully. Then I copied some more data but during that I lifted my laptop to place it somewhere else but I forgot that my hard disk is attached to it with USB.So the hard drive was physically hanging vertically with laptop and copying status window got frozen. And I heard 2-3 times some noise inside hard drive. Not sure it was normal noise or was it my laptop noise. But I suspect it was from external hard disk itself.After that, it simply

    External Hard Drive

    Hi John,

    We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
    The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

    external hard drive showing up in device management but not disk management

    Hi,

    I recently tried to use a brand new Seagate 2TB External HD, but it is not showing up. It initially showed up, but after I tried reformatting it to exFAT32, it disappeared from the disk management list.

    I then tried:

    • refreshing the disk management list,
    • inserting into a different USB port,
    • re-starting my computer, and
    • uninstalling the device from device manager/letting it refresh,

    I still can't see it. There is no yellow error in the USB controller list.

    I'm on Windows 10.

    Intel i5-3317U @ 1.7GHz

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    External Hard drive is not dectected in file explorer.

    Original title: External Hard Drive not visible in File Explorer

    The drive IS visible under Disk management and there are no problems (it says it working fine). It does not appear in file explorer. It works fine on the mac sitting next to it, and this pc does happily regnise and show a different
    external hard drive in file explorer.

    i have also tried updating the device drivers, and it says this pc has the best drivers required.
