Windows 10: External hdmi monitor not working on windows 11

Hi,I have a windows 11 system running on a dell Inspiron 7580 notebook. I cant get an external monitor working on hdmi port in windows 11.Some tests I made: 1- Using ubuntu 22 booting from a usb pendrive - I can get it work on hdmi and usb-c port, even simultaneously.2- Using windows 11, 1 monitor in usb-c port and other monitor in hdmi port. Various combinations of cables and monitors: Hdmi monitor doesnt work. Windows "pops" when hdmi connection is made, recognizes it in device manager and , my mouse can go to any monitors but Hdmi always show black screen without signal.Its important to men

After update today, external HDMI monitor has no sound and speaker no longer listed as audio device

My Windows 11 22H2 updated today with

2022-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5017389) and 2022-09 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5017271).

Now my external HDMI sound is gone.

From task tar, click sound icon, only see Lenovo laptop's built-in speaker listed (Realtek Audio).

Before I can see my HDMI monitor's speaker listed there.

Shutdown laptop and leave external monitor on does not help. Disconnect HDMI cable, power off/on monitor did not help either.

Audio of Device Manager does not list external HDMI monitor's speaker listed there neither.

I especially suspect KB5017271 caused the problem. Was updated KB5017389 first and it seemed was fine with external HDMI monitor speaker (but not 100% sure) which was updated first.

 

External Monitor Not Working Via HDMI Cable

Summary:

After updating from 1703 to 1809 we are experiencing an issue where the external monitor has stopped working.

The end user has an HP Elitebook x360 1030 G2 device connected to an external monitor via HDMI cable.

The external monitor was working fine before the update.

Troubleshooting steps we have tried:

Check the cables are plugged in properly - all good

Update Intel Graphics 620 driver - doesn't work

Update the device BIOS to latest version - doesn't work

Workaround:

User is able to use external monitor by doing the following:

- power on machine

- at bitlocker, press esc twice which goes to bit locker recovery

-power off the machine

-power on

-external monitor works

However, has anyone come across this issue previously with a permanent fix?

 

Windows 10 does not recognize my external HDMI monitor

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 working well with windows 8 and an external HDMI monitor until today I upgraded to windows 10 and now the new operating system does not recognize the external HDMI monitor.

What should I do? discard windows 10 and roll back?

Any ideas?
