Windows 10: External webcam unidentified

Hi,

Trying to connect my external webcam-unused for a while, but despite having found and used the original disc to update/load the driver, at the install Shield Wizard, after asking to connect device, I do, and it just keeps asking to connect.

1. webcam identified in settingsbut message driver unavailable- but not identified in Device Manager??

2. Light comes on device when connected to computer.

3. Connected device in all ports.

4. Also downloaded driver update online- when opened, wipzip self extractor states file already exists- do I want to overwrite and repeats when yes or no selected. Nothing more.

1. What is the model number of the laptop?
   
2. Is this an external/internal webcam?
   
3. If it’s an external webcam, may I know the make and model of the webcam?

Toggling Between Integrated Webcam And External Webcam.

Hi Escribano - Jose Angel,



Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



You cannot use the integrated webcam as well as the external webcam at the same time and there is no option in Windows to toggle between them.



So, in order for you to use the external webcam for both Windows Hello and other purposes, then you need to disable the internal webcam from
Device Manager as you have described in your post.

Webcam not working

This issue can occur if the camera drivers are not up-to date, your anti-virus may be blocking the camera, or camera app is not installed properly. I would suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article:
