  1. Extra hard drive not recognised all the time

    Hello,

I have resolved one computer issue only to come across another once computer was up to date and windows 20h2 installed?

The issue resolves around my second hard drive. The drive letter keeps disappearing when computer is shutdown or restarted. I have read several posts and carried out the items shown but without any success. I can use the D drive and write files and copy items to it BUT Backup and File History no longer see drive or can access it.

I have turned both on/off etc and cleared backup from computer to allow a fresh restart of backup but the system cannot detect the D dive.

Help and comments would be appreciated,

    Kind Regards,

    Trevor

    :)

Internal secondary hard drive not recognised

After fitting SSD (C: drive) to my Win10 machine I connected the old hard drive as a secondary storage drive.

    Win10 does not "see" it!
But Belarc Adviser "sees" the hard drive!

How to force Win 10 to recognise the secondary drive? Simple steps please for a non-techie.

    Thanks.

    External hard drive not recognised

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.

    Hard drive not recognised anymore

The seagate hard drive I've been using with a long time, has suddenly started to not be recognised by my laptop anymore when I was transferring files. It now alerts me to it being plugged in, but then the same sound happens about 3seconds later to suggest
I've disconnected it. But I haven't! All my photos (memories) are on this drive that I now have no access to. I've tried uninstalling the Universal Serial Bus controllers and restarting the laptop but it didn't work?! Please help!
