  1. Extremly low performance at laptop. May be caused by hard disk

Hello! Lately, my laptop's performance has been really gone downhill. The disk usage rashes at 100% whenever I open a simple application or just the web (Edge). I am also experiencing daily BSOD that aren't caused by any hardware problems as my laptop's guarantee service told me. (HP).

The Laptop is new at just 6 months after purchase. The high disk usage problem started to really become noticeable after only 1 month of getting our first laptop. The situation at the moment is very bad, as you cant use it for more than 30-40 minutes before an BSOD happens again. I have personally tried everything to fix this issue. Here are some of the things that I have done:

    Disabling Windows Search

•Changing computer's battery option to high performance.

    •Disabling Windows Superfetch (Sysmain)

•Performed 1 full windows scan and 1 Windows offline scan. (No viruses were found)

•Disabling Windows OneDrive from Start-up Programs (I think that it slow my pc as it has a high input on the system)

•Performing a Windows clean boot. (The problems doesn't go away)

•Performing a Windows Clean install. (To be fair, I had some errors when Windows were trying to download all the drivers but still i was able to boot and complete the process)

Hard drive:ST1000LM035-1RK172 (The laptop has 6gb of ram, and the overall hardware is average but not poor)

Here are also some event viewer BSOD infrormation windows that i have gotten:

If you have time, please, inform me if you have an answer on how to stop this problem from happening. I also have to tell you that the service support told me that the problem was a software one and not a hardware one. Thanks for showing interest and reading the whole page!

  2. Laptop hard drive upgrade

To replace a hard drive on a laptop is a little more troublesome than a desktop. 1st as most people here suggest you will need some sort of a backup disk just in case. Also be sure when buying the new Hard Disk is compatible with your model. And i would strongly suggest you install a new system and start from scratch because there are far too many problems that can occur when transferring system files.

  3. Noela Tum Win User
Low Disk space and no storage

    Hi Katie,

There are times when your Windows PC will let you know that it's low on disk space to prevent information loss. When your PC doesn't have enough disk space, it will affect the performance of your PC. Please answer these questions so we can isolate the cause
    of your concern:

    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • How much disk space is available at this time? Can you provide me a screenshot of the current disk space?
    • What is the current OS Build of your PC? Click the Start button, then type
winver, and then press Enter to verify this information.

    You can also visit this
    article
on how to free up more drive space to improve the performance of your computer.

We're looking forward to your reply.

  4. Extremly low performance at laptop. May be caused by hard disk

svchost.exe causing "high disk usage" and performance alerts constantly!

    Hi,

Let us isolate your concern by answering the questions below:

    • Have you made any changes to the computer software prior to this?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of the Task Manager window under the
      Details tab?
In the meantime, we suggest that you perform a clean boot and then isolate what third party program is causing the issue. We advise that you uninstall or disable them. The steps on how to perform a clean boot are provided in this
    link.

We'll be waiting for your response.
