Windows 10: F: Drive Partition Disappeared

Hey all,Yesterday, I was trying to allocate more RAM to a Minecraft Optifine installation. I don't think I did it correctly, as the program crashed whenever I tried to open it, and the allocated RAM returned to its default value of 2GB every time this occurred. This whole process made my entire PC very slow e.g. Google Chrome wouldn't load up whatsoever, so I gave up and gave it a restart.Upon restart, my computer began making a periodic 'clicking' noise every 10 seconds or so. This worried me, but I forged ahead.I looked at File Explorer and noticed that my C: Drive where I have Windows in

Based on the information you have provided in your post; we need to do further investigation. To assist you better, we'd like to know the following:

• Have you tried using a third party software to manage the disk partition?
• Did you format the drive?

We suggest that you check for the drive in the Disk Management and look if it appears. Follow these steps:

• Log on as administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
• Press Windows+R key and type diskmgmt.msc and then click OK.

Look if the Drive F: appears and check if it is unallocated.

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
