Windows 10: Facebook Messenger App Notification Banner Not switching to APP when clicking on it

I am having the issue of facebook messenger the app not being switched to when I click on the banner. When a banner pops up from someone messaging me, I click on the banner, and it's not actually letting me switch to it. When I click on it, it highlights the messenger app, but my computer still think it's on the previous application I had open I.E. Google Chrome. So, I will see the messenger app, and if I start typing, it will just type whatever I had as if I still had google Chrome open. I never had this issue back in the old verison of facebook messneger 95.7.118. I just updated to 140.0.0.4

If the Messenger app doesn't show on the list under Notifications & Actions, it's possible that there are too many apps that are using the push notification. There is a limit to the number of apps you have installed that has push notifications enabled. You
may consider removing other apps that are not in use and check if it helps.

In addition, you can also try to check the Default App for Protocol to prioritize Messenger as the default. To do this, follow the steps listed below:

• Type Default app settings in the Search bar.
• Click Choose default apps by protocol.
• Look for the Messenger app then click on it.
• Restart PC and check if it works.

Exactly the same issue for me. Notifications are 'On' but I don't see the Messenger app in the list of Apps as mentioned by OP. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it hasn't fixed the issue.

This is a problem I've been having from the very beginning. Both the Facebook and the Messenger apps do not show any notification in the action centre, the only difference being that Facebook shows notifications while the app is open but messenger
dosent show any even then. Upon checking, I saw that the messenger app is not even listed in the list of apps in the settings menu under
Settings>System>Notification and apps>Get notification from these senders. Facebook, however, does exist in that list. I am using windows 10 Pro 64 bit,
