Windows 10: Facing Issue with Bitlocker Password

I bought Lenovo ThinkPad P51s Workstation which has Windows 10 Professional OS.


On March 3oth 2020 while working time, I got a blue screen error and afterwards not able to login into my Laptop.


I showed to the technician, he finally said that HDD is prompting for Bitlocker to recover the key to access any of my Hard Disk drives.


To be frank, I never create a password for my Bitlocker account and never know about this application.


I had logged into my Microsoft account and its showing that one device is linked which is my laptop only. But, showing below error.

BitLocker recovery keys

You don't have any BitLocker recovery keys uploaded to your Microsoft account.

Note: If someone else helped you set up your PC, the BitLocker keys you're looking for might be on their account.

why doesn't my bitlocker make me type a password?

Please follow these steps and check if that helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to start the BitLocker Device Encryption service.

Follow the below steps:

1. Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.

2. Type services.msc and hit Enter.

3. Search for BitLocker Device Encryption service.

4. Double click on BitLocker Device Encryption service and click on Start button.

5. Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to Automatic.

If the issue persists then change the password and change the settings on how drive is unlocked at startup.

Entering Bitlocker password when booting a desktop ran in English with a French keyboard issue

• Did you try the Onscreen keyboard and check if the language is set to French?
• Do you have the encryption password to recover the Bitlocker?

Check if the issue resolves by operating through the Onscreen keyboard.

Hello Keith,

We suggest to change it from Control Panel. You may follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Unlock drive.
• Type your present password and click Unlock.
• The drive will be unlocked and you will notice more links on the right of that particular unlocked drive, click
  Change password.
• Now, you may type your Old password, New password and Confirm new password.
• Click Change password.
