Factory installed Windows 10 Home suddenly deactivated.

A few days ago, I noticed that the "Activate Windows, Go to Settings to activate Windows" message had appeared on my screen in the bottom right corner. I own a store-bought Acer laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 10 Home. I have waited several days because one suggested fix was to wait for Microsoft's activation servers to come online and automatically make the watermark go away. This did nothing, so I clicked on the troubleshoot button in Activation in the Update & Security section of settings. This has done nothing but give me an error message stating:

    Troubleshooting has completed.
Something interrupted our troubleshooting. Make sure you're connected to the internet, wait a few minutes, and try again. 0x80070017

We weren't able to activate windows on this device.

Of course, I did what It asked. I was connected to the internet, so I waited a few minutes and tried again. Boom, same problem. I tried it again before posting this question, and it still gave me the same reason. If it helps, I bought this laptop around March of 2018.

    :)

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
