Failed to install on ‎07/‎10/‎2020 - 0x8024001e


Am receiving the above error message when I attempt for any 'updates available' and, apart from Definition Updates, which come through automatically...Today's date...7/10/20...OK...Cannot get any other updates, and the following message appears...


"Error encountered. We could not complete the installation because an update service was shutting down".


Have tried Windows trouble shooter and it reports no error found.


I decided to run System Restore in the hope that this would solve the problem...


The Restore went well but when it finished, it had a message that the Cortana App was not responding...However, I have checked Cortana. and it seemed OK... to be sure, I reloaded the App from Windows Store...and again Cortana worked OK.


My Computer seems to be working well apart from this little glitch...


As always, I would appreciate a solution from the Community.

After several attempts, Windows update will not install the subject update. Here is what I have tried.

1. Reviewed the cab.log and found that the following as the missing feature that is causing the update failure. Unable to find Microsoft-Windows-HyperV-OptionalFeature-HypervisorPlatform-Disabled-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.18362.657 in the Windows
   update catalog to fix this.

1. I ran scfs /scannow. No issues found.
2. I verified that Windows update is set to automatic and running.
3. I downloaded the package manually and installed it.
4. Went back to Check for updates. It still shows the update as missing.
5. Tried running the update again and it fails.

How do I fix this to get Windows update working again.

 

update KB4015217 fails with error code 0x8024001e

Immediate Problem:

Windows 10 pro version 1607. KB4015217 released on 4/11/2017 has run and failed each day since 4/11. The update downloads fine, but fails during install. I believe the error code is 0x8024001e, but I'm not certain - it's difficult to get an error code
to display.

Background: Recent case SR117040515556352 on WMI (closed on 4/10 late evening) supposedly resolved, may not be resolved - maybe the cause.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
