Windows 10: Failed W10 Install

Ok ... purchased the W10 Home from the Microsoft Store yesterday Nov 3 2020 to update my W7 machine. Received the email with the key and the install link.


When I purchased on the phone and asked about whether a 64bit install was included and was told that I would be prompted with that choice and to select it. I was not told that to get that option I had to select first was the download the iso launcher. They had just told me to select the install not the download.


I waited for the 64bit selection and it did not appear and I now have a 32bit.


After calling the Store back they apologized and tried to connect me to tech which did not happen as it timed out.


I subsequently did download the installer but it will not allow me to install the 64bit over the 32bit.


Please help me out with this. I am sure that there is a way. I have a ticket. 01-2698184


I cannot wait on the phone for hours to get in touch.

KB4025339 Fails Install 0x80070564

I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!

Okay, so you've got the files from the ISO extracted to your desktop, and you see the setup.exe file, correct?
You should be able to double-click setup.exe and the upgrade will begin. There is no "auto run" involved in this step, so I don't understand where that error came from.

Edit: Did you run the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) to make sure your Windows 7 system files are intact, as suggested in the tutorial?

A chkdsk on your hard drive may be in order.

1. Click Start
2. Type: CMD, from the results, right-click CMD
3. Select Run as Administrator
4. At the Command Prompt, type: chkdsk /r

(Notice the space between the k and /)

When you restart your system, your hard drive will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
