Windows 10: Fall creators update installing despite being on business branch

Perhaps you are not familiar with 'Notify' - available e.g. via a tutorial and group policy and Winaero's tweaker.
Means you get a notification of a pending update via the Action Centre.
Click on that, Settings opens, showing you the pending update(s).

When you approve that, the update(s) downloads.

I had exactly that happen with Defer Feature Updates set in build 1607, and after quite some months, 1703 was offered before I wanted it. I did not accept it and extended the period for which Defer Feature Updates applied using the Group Policy Editor.

Hope with all that detail that's clearer, with a specific example of not accepting an upgrade?

Currently on 1703 with CBB set, not been offered 1709, thankfully, yet.

 

What i mean is that given the behavior is unexpected it may also ignore the group policy settings (gpedit ?).
I do not use any tweaker.
My system is on CBB, not offered 1709, unexpectedly?, luckily? IDK, too much confusion.

Is that PC setup to use, Windows Update for Business . Doesn't that have to be setup for this to work?

 

Hi, i do not understand what PC you are referring to, the problem is that a 1703 windows 10 pro
can unexpectedly upgrade to 1709, despite the settings so that your settings are somehow "ignored";
i do not think there is much you can do with settings AFAIK.

 

The one setup to use "current branch for business". I do believe there is more involved than just running Pro to make use of it. I'll have to read up on it again myself.

EDIT: Did a quick Google search, looks like I got it wrong, must have been thinking of LTSB. Disregard and carry on.
