Windows 10: Fall Creators Update

I'm pretty happy with this update so far. 3 machines in and no problems at all other than a long 2 hours plus install time. Even my netbook that didn't have enough hard drive (flash) memory updated with no issues with a usb flash drive assist. All through WU.

The update did re-enable suggestions in start and also changed my "lockscreen" settings to windows spotlight as well as changed an enhancement setting in DTS audio control - all easily readjusted back. All other settings privacy/system etc as far as i can see were unaffected. The OS feels slightly faster to me. WD now launches on one click. There is a lot more info under performance in task manager. I like the currency converter added to calculator as well. I like the visual changes to notifications in action center.

I was going to wait on installing the update for a while after my experience with creators update 1 but when I saw it sitting there at 1pm in WU I figured what the hell. Worked out well.

 

Sharing between my three machines doesn't work as it should after the update. See Sharing not working correctly after fall creators update for a description of the problem.

 

Installed this morning and running fine on my desktop windows 10 pc. *Biggrin

Most importantly Asphalt 8 Airborne still runs normal, lol. *Wink

I would very much like to update but I will wait to I can do it through Windows Update*Smile

If it is not offered in a timely manner, and you want to do it yourself, you can do what many are doing. Go to this Official Microsoft site, click Update Now, and it will download the Windows Update Assistant. Just click and run the Assistant. Very easy to use and understand. It will figure out what version you need by itself.

I've update 3 Desktops and 1 Laptop so far with no problems. 3 Clean Installs and 1 Update install, all from a USB flash drive created from the ISO generated by the latest Media Creation Tool.

Spme people are having problems though so the image backup is an absolute must.

 

Only issue I have seen is with restarting and turning off fast start up. It causes the long in screen to hang and the start menu to hang up as well and can be very annoying. As long as fast startup is on and you don’t restart you are fine.

Still trying to figure out if that’s a bug or if I should install the update through another way than WU.

 

Updated to Fall Creators Update. Took 80 minutes start to finish. No problems experienced at all.

 

In this PC, in tile view, half my hard drives are reporting used/free space. I am a bit confused.

 

I installed on two desktops with out issues, 2 days later still no issues that I have been able to notice.
However I have made 4 attempts on my notebook G752Vy about a year old with native windows 10 upgraded to Pro. the upgrade seems to complete installing, but I'm in a loop with Putting in my password Local Account flashing to desktop and then back to Log on window to put in my password again loop I can't seem to break. I have restored my MR Image 4 times, think I'll wait awhile or maybe go for a clean install.

 

Installed the update on my 2nd pc yesterday afternoon, no problems, all is well.

Install W10 FCU in February 2018.

 

MTP via USB no longer works with my Samsung S7 phone.
