Windows 10: Fast Startup Failure - prefetch permission error

There is an error that the folder "prefetch" [You don't have permission to access folder]1.I gave continue and it'll be fine working... but whenever some time [4-5hrs] shutdown the permission got revertedIMAGE REF -1Whenever the windows startup restart/shutdown after some time the permission got released2.Due to this the windows fast startup is not working properly failed due to permission errorIMAGE REF -2I can't able to upload screenshot here-----------------------------Already done:1.Freshly installed windows 2.Updated windows upto-date3.Updated all the drivers4.Used DISM health rest

Fast Startup Failure (Windows 10 1903)

Hi all

I've been having an issue with Windows 10 reporting an error with 'fast startup failing', it lists a critical 'Kernel power - system' error of 41.

The error log meanwhile lists the kernel-boot and error '29', with the text reading 'Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4.'

I've managed to resolve this so far on this mostly brand new computer by clearing the prefetch folder, and it seems to correlate directly with how long it's been since a windows update, for about a month it remained fine, and recently it's begun occurring,
whether with an interval of two or six days. Recently I noticed that when it last occurred the prefetch folder was missing 'layout.ini', and restoring this did not fix it, however clearing the log and waiting for it to return did.

My computer is an Asus gaming pc, and I did have to use the windows update assistant to update it to 1903, is it perhaps something software based I merely need to wait to be updated, or should I contact support for those I have insurance with?

Windows Fast Startup causing crashes, corruptions, and (recently) user lockout

I appreciate the prompt response. Based on the information that you've provided, the logs are related to a corrupted system files. These files to initiate the
Fast Startup can be found in the Prefetch folder. To rule out your concern, I suggest that you delete the content of this folder leaving only the
Layout.ini file. The folder is located in C:\Windows\Prefetch. Once you're done, re-enable
Fast Startup and check if the issue persists.

Failed fast startup

Hi,

I have been facing this issue for a while now. While fast startup is enabled, my laptop has very rarely fast startup, and when checking the events viewer, it would always state the following:

error) Event 29, Kernel boot: Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4.

(error) Event 6006, EventLog: The previous system shutdown at [xxxx] AM on [yyyy] was unexpected.

(critical) Event 41, Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Event 1101, EventLog: Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

Then usually 4 or 5 of

Event 10016, DistributedCOM: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

Any idea how to fix this and make fast startup work again?
