Windows 10: Fatal Totally Unundersttod 1903 Install Error

(I posted about this in a lengthy thread in Windows 10 News, with not a single reply, so I am going to try here to see if perhaps I can gain some attention.)

Yesterday, I was using Windows10Upgard9252.exe on my wife's computer, after it did a good job of updating from 1809 to1903 on my computer. The process seemed to be working fire,showing 92% installed when I left her computer.

When I returned, what I saw was the "Windows has encountered an error and is gathering." screen, which it did, and told me I could restart. The only way to do that was to turn the machine off and back on. That worked, with 1809 intact. No errors shown in Windows Update, which did not surprise me, as I had not used it to try to update.

Trying to find out what had happened, I did find three errors in the Event Viewer, which might have occurred about the time that the crash took place, but which were totally meaningless to me, Here is one of them:

"The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID N\n dows.Secu rityCenter.WscData P rotection and APPID unavailable to the user NT AUTHORITYXSYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services Administrative tool."

Before posting this, I did a search, which returned many entries, almost all of which referenced a specific problem number, and my looking at a few of those meant as little to me as the one just above. I am left with absolutely no idea as to what to do to get the .exe to install 1903. I don't even know if that quote is about whatever it was that caused the failure to finish the installation and inform me that a restart is needed.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Fatal Error

I've been trying to format my system but right after it finishes formatting I get a Fatal Error during the Windows installation process. That Fatal Error is a Data Error (cyclic redundancy check). I know that it's because of my hard drives, but how do I fix this issue? I have 2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA II Hard Drives in RAID 0. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. *Smile

Okay, I disabled RAID and now just formatting one of my hard drives. I will post back and let you know if I get another Fatal Error or if the Windows installation was a success.

Well, I just got a Fatal Error during the Windows installation process with the first hard drive. So I removed it and now formatting the second hard drive. I will post up the results when it's done.
