That $19.00 Internet or $25.00 bundle may be a 12 month intro. pomo anyway by now unless it's locally regulated or subsidized ,rember this is AT&T aka Comcast of the Sky now .☻

If you buy the modem in Indiana chances are it's on DSL plans where you can still get it not U-Verse they don't sell the FTTN/FTTB U-Verse modems anymore and nobody else's product will work on U-Verse like it does on DSL .
IRRC with U-Verse & leased modems now they try to stick you up for $100.00 to start the service and roll a truck

I was on ATT old school DSL + line rental racket and owned my ( non ATT & better DSL modem ) before the forced migration to AT&T FTTN U-Verse and leased modems here and got that $100.00 truck roll waived when I told them I wasn't averse to switching to Comcast if they didn't waive the truck roll charge . I didn't mention I hate Comcast more than AT&T . ☻

$25.00 all total is not bad for 3 Gbps ( about what it's worth tops ) It's too slow for much beyond casual web browsing & Email and too slow for 1080p video ( you might get 720p on Netflix OK with one user at thier lower 720p HD encode that is right at 3 gbps but it may buffer and step up and down ) but 3Gbps will work OK for web browsing , some You tube and e mail & 480p Netflix For sure as long as it doesn't sag below ~3Gbps then it can get s**ty .

They might have something inexpensive here like that on U -Verse in a 12 mo promo. I'm not sure.... but there is no DSL left here and all the new & forced migration U-Verse RGW's are leased now.

AT&T is taking out conventional old school DSL and new POTS land line Telco service altogether and doing forced upgrade migrations to U -Verse when FTTN U-Verse comes into an area and they drop the FTTN/FTTB VRADS into a neighborhood . None of that pure DSL is left here it's all FTTN /FTTP U- Verse .

AT&T wants out of narrow bandwidth copper POTS lines and the legacy upkeep cost wherever they can or are willing to remove it .

AT&T usually get's about $53.00 or so all total for 3 Mbps pure DSL including the line service or 6 Mbps FTTN U-Verse outside of an introductory price window although the have a cheaper 3 mbps U verse also but I think it's bundle with at least VOIP Telco service

  2. That would seem like a lot of work, planning and re provisioning and if Florida is anthing like California it's going to H. in a handbasket in general and getting more urban sprawl compared to what it used to be and taxes are always going up !

Hopefully all the things I see on TV about Germany, UK & EU and the ongoing and more recent recent economic immigration & /refugee problems can be handled although it looks to be a big problem....... I won't mention my ideas about all that or what we have in Calif .

AT&T has changed a little. $34.00 for 768 Kbps Basic. Used to be 19.99 or 25.00 Don't know if you still have to buy a modem or not.

  4. FCC proposing monthly broadband subsidies for low-income households

Cant get DSL here anymore the slowest thing here is 3 Mbps FTTN U-Verse I rember 768K it wasn't much good for video and loaded web pages kinda slow sometimes . 3mbps DSL was significantly better and the 18 mbps U-Verse I have now ain't bad.

I started out with maybe 14.4 dial up Usenets and BBS way back before the web as we know it started up then went to 28.8K ,then 56K then 768K DSL and so on .....

My next move might be ~ 40 mbps or more for 4K /4K WCG HDR Netflix and Amazon video and OTT iptv . I already have the Sony WCG 4K HDR TV for it in here & Amazon Prime & Netflix . Upscaled bt709 1080p > 2160p Sony style looks real good for now using OTA & even on the good Dish channels or Netflix /Amazon /Vudu until they get lots more 4K /4K HDR content .

  5. I belive you can still buy and or lease DSL modems at AT&T ...........but U-Verse modems are lease only now and other brands won't work on U-Verse whereas you can buy a better DSL modem /router than AT&T has at Best Buy etc.

I had one of those aftermarket DSL modem/routers after my owned AT&T 2 wire DSL modem died shortly out of warranty after the original one was replaced in warranty once or twice before that .

The aftermarket DSL modem & Wi FI was way better than the ATT 2 wire junk they had then .

I sold the aftermarket DSL modem/router on E bay for not much less than I paid for it after switching to U-Verse.

I made them put a Pace 3801HGV U-Verse modem in here that they use for U-Verse TV and triple play with a free truck roll ( after a recommendation from an ATT tech on DSLreports forum ) when the cheaper 2 Wire U -Verse Internet only junk they leased me failed a second time ! I use OTA & Dish for TV though & the lease amt. is the same on the 3801 .

The Pace 3801 is pretty solid with strong Wi Fi also but it only does 802.11g 2.4 Ghz ISM band Wi Fi so the next speed bump will require a different U -Verse modem/ RGW or an external Wi Fi Router behind it even though 802.11 is theoretically 54 mbps you can only get maybe 25-27 mbps reliable throughput on 802.11g anyway .

ATT = Comcast of the Sky now since they bought Direct TV ...........less competition and probably higher prices soon all brought to you by AT&T and the FCC !*sarc
