Windows 10: Feature Update 1903 is installed in Software Center but "Winver" still shows the older 1803...

Hello everyone, so my laptop is a work, domain joined laptop currently sitting on 1803 version of Windows 10. Our organisation is running on 1903, I installed 1903 version via software centre and it installed successfully and restarted etc. But after the restart when I check windows version by running winver command it still shows as 1803 not 1903. However in software centre under updates it shows as 1903 is installed successfully. Now after successfully installing 1903 via software centre over VPN, I haven't been to the office so my laptop hasn't physically connected on to the office network. Does it affect the ability of the new version to be installed?

As a final test, I set 1803's 'Defer Feature updates' to 90 days, long enough to rule out 1903, but short enough to allow 1809. Checking for updates then proceeded to download and install the 1809 feature update. It's worth noting that the 1809 update did not offer a 'Download and install now' option as 1903 did, windows update began the install immediately.

Hi ,

After downloading the latest windows that is 1903 its showing some updates but not able to download from "check for update".

Also tried the creation media but not succeed. I tired all the steps which are available on block like enable disable and restarting services. Last night i spoke to Microsoft representative over the call and given the remote access she did some troubleshooting
steps and kept windows 10 pro on download and ask me to installed it after download completion i have done that but even some of software and in pending download list.

please suggest me for this issue asap.

Windows 10 Pro 1709 update to 1803, 1809 or 1903?

In theory your current settings will be delaying updates to a point where there should not be any stability or quality issues. All being well you will have a years worth of quality issues in that version fixed.

• If you want latest with potential teething troubles then go for 1903.
  
• 1809 has been out for more than 6 months so there should no longer be any show-stopping bugs or errors, everything should just work
  
• your current settings are postponing feature updates for 1 year and as a result you are offered 1803. This version should be solid, by now well tested and fairly mature.
  
  The version number of 1803 x64 2019-07B suggests that it is downloading it with all relevant updates to July 2019, meaning you are getting all the fixes without the problems of a newer "feature" update such as 1809 or 1903.
  

If you want best stability and least chance of issues then let it install the version it is proposing.

If you want to live on the edge then go for something newer.

If your system is mission critical and you have no backups then you want stability. If you want features but can tolerate a bit of risk then you want the latest.
