Windows 10: Feature update to Windows 10, version 1909

This update is sitting in my Windows Update area. It obviously isn't important because it would have installed the usual way.

I'm already running 1909. There is no link or anything I can click on to see what these new features are. There is only an option to download and install. I've searched using those words and there is nothing coming up in the first few pages. I searched community and support forums but only a bunch of stuff about the recent KB came up. I'm pretty sure it has been there for a few months and I didn't install it because I didn't know what it did.


Can someone point me to a link I can find out what it is please?

Or tell me how to remove it from my screen so every few months when I actually get around to looking in there I don't have to worry about it again because I have no memory lol.

BUG in feature update to windows 10 version 1909 via enablement package (KB4517245)

This is the first time I've seen this 'fix'...didn't work here as the instructions could not be followed. Step 1: done., Step 2: done., Step3 no clue as I hit every item listed and nothing
show your 'view installed updates'. Choose on the left or right-hand side....nothing updates I could find..

 

Windows Update Message - Feature Update to Windows 10, version 1909

Hello, I am currently running Windows 10, version 1809, OS build 17763.973.

As well as the last 4 or 5 monthly (Tuesday) updates, I have also been shown a message:

Feature Update to Windows 10, version 1909

The next version of Windows is available with new features and security improvements. When you are ready for the update, select "Download and Install now".

When I try to download, I get "Error encountered"

"We could not complete the installation because an update service was shutting down"

The exception to this was last night, when the download started, and the installation got to 86%, before, once again, getting the "Error encountered" message.

Two things: should I be able to upgrade from 1809 to 1909, and is this the way that 1909 will be rolled out to 'Home' users?

Do I have to go via Windows 10 1903 to get to 1909? If so, why am I being offered 1909, as detailed above?

Went from 1903 18362.476 to 1909 18363.476
