Windows 10: Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 Failed - 0x80242016

Can anyone tell me why this feature update from 1909 to 20H2 keeps failing? I have tried the troubleshooter, sfc, dism, and media creation tool. The error logs are after I reset windows updates and tried again. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akts13ERrQ7leByHcIzhZp6jhzI?e=OwTiG7

Windows 10 Feature Update 20H2 consistently fails with 0x80242016

I am using Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 1809 and trying to update to Version 20H2.

I keep getting 0x80242016 error.

I was in previous version I got 0x80242016 error when trying to upgrade and so after extensive research tried

Windows 10 Installation Media:

1. Insert the Media (DVD/USB) in your PC and restart.
   
2. Boot from the media.
   
3. Select Repair Your Computer.

Select Troubleshoot.

1. Choose Command Prompt from the menu:

Type in the command:
Diskpart
Type in the command:
List disk (Note which disk is your Boot drive number mine is 0)
Type in the command:
Sel disk 0
Type in the command:
List vol (Note which volume is the EFI partition mine is 4)
Type in the command:
Sel vol 4
Type in the command:
assign letter=V:
Type in the command:
Exit
Type in the command:
V:
After you have assigned a drive letter Using Diskpart You can format the EFI partition:
Example: if you assigned a letter V to the partition the command would be:
format V: /FS:FAT32
Type in the command:
bcdboot C:\windows /s V: /f UEFI

This did not work so I wiped hard drive and reinstalled Windows 10.



Now I have an issue that I cannot install Feature Updates. They keep failing to install with 0x80242016 error.
Any ideas how to resolve issue?

You misunderstood me. Issue happened when Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 1809 was released and after getting 0x80242016 error I did what I stated in previous message. This did not work and I had to wipe drive and reinstall Windows 10 from start to current version at time of Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 1809.

I now have a laptop with Windows 10 Pro Version 1809 and whenever I try to upgrade to Windows 10 20H2 consistently get 0x80242016 error.

Hi, when you reinstalled, did you install 1809 again? As you were doing a clean install I'd have thought you'd have created a bootable disk of 20H2 and installed that directly... then you wouldn't be facing a feature update as you seem to be.

What is your current build? (winver)

So as to be sure what's failing, please post a screenshot of your Update History.

I see one or two encountered an issue with that device's camera when upgrading to 20H2. Just in case you do..
