    Feature upgrade to 1903 error code 0x80004005


    Since buying my computer in 2016 it appears that auto. upgrades have occured only to 1709. The system advised upgrading to 1903 and I requested the upgrade downloading windows 10 update assistant to help.


    The nearest I have been able to get to success was 99%. After numerous attempts over the last three weeks I am advised the failure is due to error 0x80004005.


    How - in very simple terms - can I get past this error.?


    Any indication why I have not been updated to 1803 etc. automatically.?

    How To Fix 0x80004005 Error?
    Look to the right of the screen and follow the steps to fix the problem. Hope this helps.

    I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

    I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

    I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

    The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
