  1. February Update KB4532693 Can't Open Update and Security in Settings

Two days ago on the 13th of February the update KB4532693 installed itself. As soon as it installed I noticed problems with my HP 17 AK series laptop. First of all the fans started going mad so I looked in the task manager and several process where in the red. Most notably Microsoft Edge. Even closing Edge the fans were still going mad and the screen kept sticking for short periods. Knowing Windows updates cause problems I went straight to installed updates and deleted the KB4532693 update and turned the laptop off and on again. No problems..... until the 14th of February when the update reinstalled itself. Again the fans were going mad, this time when I went to delete the update in installed updates it would not let me delete it. So I did a system restore to the 12th of February before the offending update was initially installed. All was working well until I checked start menu > settings > update and security to check that the system restore had indeed removed the KB4532693 update. As soon as update and security opened it closed again. After several attempts it kept doing it. I got around update and security not opening by typing "installed updates" in the search box. And low and behold

It's back.... I have just run an DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth in command prompt admin but I have my doubts as to whether that will solve the problem. I've also just read that this update has damaged a lot of HP computers with AMD chips, as mine has. Is it not time that Microsoft stopped breaking peoples computers and wasting customers time with the unnecessary unsolicited system "updates"? Obviously security updates are necessary but virtually no one wants system updates.

    :)

  3. Can't open Update & Security in Settings

I'm having a similar issue. I can open all other items on the settings "page". However, Update & Security is having issues. I click on it and the Square goes around it, the cursor changes to the spinning circle for about two minutes, and then the Update
& Security page starts to open, does not fully render, and then closes on it's own.

Tried steps 1 through 6 as outlined by
    ThofikhAhamad
    no change, even after rebooting.

This is after installing the February Updates.
