File Explorer and W10 file structure

I am the sole user of a W10 PC and find the basic file structure used in W10 totally confusing. It seems impossible to get information about what is nested under what and how the parts are interacting to understand how the hierarchy is built up. Trying to re/organize my personal files therefore seems a close to impossible task and de-constructing W10 should not need to be my may occupation for days!

How do I AVOID and bypass completely the pre-defined folder structure of Documents - Pictures - 3D Objects - Desktop etc etc in W10?

I would like the local structure Drive/Username if necessary/Folder/Filename as defined and organized by ME and based on that, also myself decide and organize where to place copies and backups. It should not be necessary to have to guess what is and where is the original of files and folders and what is just a display of an original from a different viewpoint.

Is it possible to get a user interface similar to W7 as an overlay on W10 via an app or by tweaking w10 directly?

    FRUSTRATED!!

    :)

    Extracting Zip Files

Are the step-by-step processes identical? That is, the folder extracted from and the folder extracted to belong to the same hierarchical file system structure. If they are, that suggests mildly the Cumulative Update left an electron or two out of place.

  3. File explorer

    Hi Mick,

I am sorry to know that the File Explorer is not working on the Taskbar.

I suggest you to right-click on it to unpin it from the task bar.

Then search for File Explorer in Search. Then right-click on it to Pin it to Taskbar.

If the issue persists, try the steps below.

    • Type CMD in Search. Right click on it to run as an administrator.

    • Type the following 4 commands at the Command prompt:
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

    powershell

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    • Close the CMD window.

    • Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.
Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.
