    File Explorer CD Burn disabled

    Compter: Dell Optiplex 9010

    Win 10 Pro 20H2 19042.844

    DVD/CD Drive: LG: HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS40

    Driver: MS 21/06/2006 10.0.19041.1

    Device Type: DVD/CDRom drives

    Registry HKLM\Sftwr\MS\Win\CV\Polices\Explorer NoCDBurning 0

LocalGroupPolicy AdminTempl\WinComp\FileExplorer Remove CD Burning features Disabled

Original CyberLink MediaSuite InstantBurn uninstalled as it was an ancient version & was probably causing problems.

Running the associated configuration tool stopped Win & had to use win recover.

    Original CyberLink PowerDVD uninstalled

Dell Diagnostic for DVD Drive tests read/seek functions ok for CD, DVD, Blu-ray; canceled CDRAM test

Loading Verbatim Blank DVD-R gives msg: Windows can't read the disc in drive E:\

Command line format e: works with CDROM Verbatim DVD-R and DVD-RW TDK DVD-RW

Command line xcopy of files to e: works with CDROM and DVD-RW

Media Player reads an audio CDROM

    So the drive functions OK.

Loading a formated CDROM into the drive displays msg: Drag files to this folder...

Dragging files to the folder displays a red circle and bar under the file icon

File Explorer Manage Drive Tools has Format, Finish Burning & Erase this disc all greyed out

What is stopping FileExplorer from operating with the drive?

Is it something that the 3rd party CyberLink software did when it was installed?

    If so what was it?

    :)

  3. Burning photos to a CD Disc

    Hi Jimmy,

We suggest that you use Windows Media Player to burn the images. Please follow the steps below:

    • Open Windows Media Player.
    • In the Player Library > Burn tab > select
      Burn options
      .
    • Choose Audio CD or Data CD or DVD.
    • Insert a blank disc into your CD or DVD burner. (Select the drive you want to use if your PC has more than one CD or DVD drive)
    • Search for the items in your Player Library that you want to burn to the disc, and then drag them to the list pane (on the right side of the Player Library) to create a burn list.
    • When you're finished with the list, select Start burn.
Note: If necessary, click the Clear list button to remove all items from the previous burn list.

Let us know how it goes.

    Burning Files To cdr

I tried to drag a .txt file to the burn list, as suggested above, but it will not drop in. I get a message "+add to burn list" but I cannot get it to drop into the burn list. Is there another step I am missing?
