  1. File Explorer frequently stops responding

Consistently, when i access certain files, usually ones a couple folders in, my file explorer will stop responding and do nothing until restarted.I have read a lot of readily available help, suggesting things like "sfc/scannow" in cmd or a system health check in powershell, or clearing file explorer history in control panel. Nothing so far has worked. If i remember, I've had this problem before reseting my PC before though i kept my External HDD files. This is becoming more of an issue so a fix would be amazing.

File Explorer frequently stops responding when accessed from another software

I'm running Windows 10 Pro on Surface Book 1.

Whenever a third party software like Chrome or Photoshop or anything accessed File Explorer to save or upload a file, it stops responding for 2 to 3 minutes before starting to respond again. It's very annoying.

Any suggestions as to what could be the cause?

  3. File explorer not responding

    Evening.

I'm having an issue with the file explorer. I'm trying to have a clear out of old files in the downloads folder, but every time I try to delete a file it stops working. The blue bar at the top just says 'File explorer (not responding)'. I've tried restarting
my laptop and it still keeps doing it. Any suggestions??

    File Explorer frequently stops responding

Windows file explorer has stopped responding

    Hi everyone,
Having an issue with a clients laptop. File explorer stops responding when the Quick Access tab is opened. After some testing I was able to stop the problem in Quick Access options ticking "show recently used files in Quick Access" and "Show frequently used folders in Quick Access", hitting clear and restoring defaults.
That job had left the shop, the laptop is now back a month later with the same issue. Is there a way that I can fix this specific permanently?
