  1. File Explorer show 2 drive location for sandisk drive

duplicate usb drives in windows 10 file explorer

My Sandisk that I use for storage on my Surface Pro 3 shows up as a primary drive and a sub drive. The 2 drives show different data on it. One has a lot more files than the other. Which is why this is an issue. I am trying to clean up my files and make sure the ones I want to save on one drive do.

I saw a temp resolution on an older thread about deleting one in the registry thru regedit I believe it is. But if I do have 2 different areas on the sandisk it will delete data. I did not partition the drive myself and can't see how it happened without my doing it.

    Hope there is an answer.

    :)

  2. File Explorer- no drive letters are listed.

The File Explorer in Windows 10, shows the Frequent folders list and Recent files list by default. You can view the drives by clicking on This PC tab on the left site of the File Explorer. But if you wish the File Explorer
to open This PC showing drives list by default, then follow these steps:

    1. In Windows 10, open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.

    2. In the View tab, find and click on Options, listed by default on the far right side of the ribbon.

    3. In the Folder Options window, make sure you’re on the General tab and then find the drop-down box labeled Open File Explorer To. Click the drop-down menu and select This PC. Click OK to
save your changes and close the window. Now your File Explorer opens to Drives list by default.

    Hope this helps!

File Explorer show 2 drive location for sandisk drive

My USB Backup drive does not show in My Computer window.

    Hi Meran,

A few possible reason can cause your external drive to not show in File Explorer. To diagnose and fix this issue, we suggest that you check the Disk Management window. To open it, follow the steps below:

    • Right-click on the Start button.
    • Select Disk Management.
    • Alternatively, you can search diskmgmt.msc in Cortana.

Examine the list of drives in the Disk Management window and look for your external drive. Even if it doesn’t show up in File Explorer, it should appear here. If the drive appears, it may not be appearing in File Explorer because it needs to be assigned
a drive letter. To do this, right-click the partition on the drive in Disk Management and select
    Change Drive Letter and Paths.

If you don’t see the drive in the Disk Management window at all, we suggest that you try connecting the drive to a different USB port or use a different USB cable. We also recommend that you avoid using USB hubs, and connect the drive directly to your computer.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to post a reply.
