  1. File History: Installing new drive and don't want to duplicate backed up files

Hello,Please can you help?I use File history to backup my HDD files to a 14TB HDD permanently connected by USB. It works great,I want to add an SSD and I will add any new folders on the SSD to a library so that File History will them back up.I will then move some of the files from the HDD to SSD, because I want the faster performance for photo/video editing. My problem is that if I move some of the files from the HDD to the SSD they will be backed up again. Is it possible to stop this? Or should I just delete the duplicated backup?ThanksPeter

    :)

  2. How to stop File History on the old drive and start File History on a new drive?

    I use the external drive
for File History and have a lot of information there. I want to restart the File History process on a new drive and place the previous File History drive off-site.

Please suggest the steps to stop File History on the old drive and start File History on a new drive.

  3. File History will not back up files to my external drive. Error 8100002F.

    Hello,

Are you suggesting that I delete that all the folders that are listed under File History, and manually add every folder again?

If so, I want to back up all the default folders in File History except OneDrive.

Below is the latest list of defaults that I can find online:

Contacts, Desktop, Documents, Downloads. Favorites, Links, Music, One Drive, Pictures, Saved Games, Searches, Videos, and Camera Roll.

Since Contacts, Favorites, Links, Saved Games, Searches, and Camera Roll are not listed folders that I can see on File Explorer, can you please tell me where I can find those folders?

And which option for picking folders do you suggest that I choose?

The recommended option to let Windows choose, or customize?

FYI, this is a new 5 T external drive, and I have been unsuccessfullly trying to back up all my files for the first time.

I have no previous versions of backups available as my old external drive died, and I have been unable to backup any files since the beginning of January.

I first unlinked OneDrive and then uninstalled it, as all the error messages that kept getting involved One Drive.

And File History still does not work.

File History: Installing new drive and don't want to duplicate backed up files

    Finding duplicate files

    Hey hey,

During the years the backups have just accumulated in random places, essentially, and I would like to clean up. Is there a program that can search for duplicate files? And by that I mean identical files. I tried dupeGuru, but that somehow found ... all files to be identical I guess? Like how a bunch of jpg's with different names, sizes and locations being marked 100% identical, or how a bunch of xls-files with completely different everything also were 100% matches with each other. I don't need any fancy functions, just a list of the files that share the name and filesize and created/last write dates.
