  1. File history not backing up all files.

I just purchased a new SSD and reinstalled windows using the MS media creation tool.

It installed the latest Windows 10 Pro 1809

I installed many apps and games.

I decided to run File History as previous backups have failed miserably. I check my game folder in appdata after backup, and it only backed up the two config files. It ignored all files and folders.

I took a break and played with my game. Then I checked file history to see if maybe it did more backups when the computer was idle. It said it had almost 1gb data, so I checked and it added only two files. But they were the new game I just started. It still ignored all other files and folder in the directory.

It seems to be only backing up new files created since last backup was run.

How do I get a complete backup of all files and folders designated in the file history app?

    EDIT:

I forgot to mention that even before the reinstall of windows. I manually copied and pasted my game data folder (in appdata) to my backup drive and I seen it copy my saved games folder. I assumed it got them all and I didn't double check, against my better judgement. Now there are only 10 saved game, and only the 10 most recent onea. My couple dozen plus other older saved games have now vanished.

Maybe this issue goes beyond just file history?

    :)

File History not backing up any files

    Hello Victor

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

    • The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
    • Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
(as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
