Windows 10: File sharing help

Hi everyone, I've switched from mac to windows, and one thing I need is airdrop.

I want to set up a file server on my windows PC to share 1 folder locally. I would like to connect to it from my iPad with the files app.

My iPad needs an IP address to 'connect to a server'

How do I do this?

• Did you perform any Windows update recently?
• Are you connected to Domain network?

Ermmm, where are the files stored? Server or one of the machines you listed?

Should be easy enough to help you through the forum, you may not need a help site.

 

Block File sharing in Wifi network, Windows 10

Hi Lori,

As per the description, I understand that you want to block file sharing on your Wi-Fi network. I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Right click on Start and select Control Panel.
• Change the view type to Large Icons.
• Click on Network and Sharing center.
• In the left navigation pane, click on Advanced sharing center.
• In the right pane, under Files and printer sharing, select the option:
  Turn off file and printer sharing.
• Restart the system and check for status.
