Windows 10: File sharing on Windows 10

I am trying to share files between a desktop and a laptop, both on Windows 10. Both computer names appear as being on the local network (displayed in "Network" on Windows File Explorer) on each machine. Attempting to access one from the other results in a request for 'network credentials'. Entering these results in an "incorrect password" error. Attempting to use the credentials manager to assign a pw fails because the system defaults to an unknown pw which cannot be displayed. This "default" overrides the pw entered as part of the set-up. It is always 8 characters. The MS pw does not work (mine is 9 characters). The display, after set-up, shows the pw as all * and the words "Persistence: Enterprise". There is no "show" option for the pw. How do I find out what the default pw is, or, at least, be able to change it to something I want without it being overridden?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Hi Brink great tutorial as usual.

I could not help but notice in step 1 you say to enable " Function Discovery Resource Publication "

In most of the posts I have read on Ten Forums they also suggest to enable " Function Discovery Provider Host "

Are you suggesting that Function Discovery Provider Host is not necessary.
