Windows 10: File sharing over network isn't working since upgrade to Windows 10 Pro 1909

I am in the process of upgrading our office with Windows 10 Pro 1909. I've set all of the computers up for sharing turned on network discovery and printer and file sharing on public and private, selected use 128-bit encryption and turn off password protected sharing on all networks. I've set the public folder to share and for everyone to have full permissions on computer #1.


However, computers #2, #3 and #4 get a "Windows cannot access //computer #1" warning saying that they don't have permission to access it. The odd thing is that Computer #1 can access shared folders on both computer #2 and #3 with no issues but not computer #4. Our computers that are still running Windows 7 can also access Computer #1 with no issue.


Computer #4 is the oddball in that it can connect to computer #3 but not #1 and #2.


All we really need is to share certain files on Computer #1 with the other three.


I've also checked the various services to make sure that they are running including


Function Discovery Provider Host

Function Discovery Resource Publication

SSDP Discovery

UPnP Device Host

I've turned off our third party firewall and windows defender firewall as well as temporarily disabling the anti-virus altogether.

I think I've tried more than that as well but so far, nothing has worked.

Share Files and Folders Over a Network with Win10Home & Pro & Win7Pro

I followed Option 1 with the following exceptions:

• Windows 7 Pro: SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, Automatic Removal, Client and Server and SMB Direct are not options.
• Windows 10 Home: SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, Automatic Removal, Client and Server are checked and SMB Direct is not an option.
• Note: Windows 10 Pro: SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, Automatic Removal, Client and Server and SMB Direct are checked.

Clearly the problem is sharing with Windows 10 Pro...

• Windows 10 Pro can reach files and folders on Windows 7 Pro
• Windows 10 Pro cannot reach files and folders on Windows 10 Home; Message: Windows cannot access...
• Windows 10 Home cannot reach files and folders on Windows 10 Pro; Message: Enter your credentials
• Windows 7 Pro cannot reach files and folders on Windows 10 Pro; Message: Enter your password

Sharing Between Windows 10 Home and Windows 7 Pro

• Windows 10 Home can reach files and folders on Windows 7 Pro
• Windows 7 Pro can reach files and folders on Windows 10 Home

Any thoughts on what I should do?

I with much help, I solve my networking problem!

The first step was to follow Option 1 and Option 2 from the first post of this thread/tutorial.

The second step was to create a new password-protected local (user) account with administrator privileges and without using an email or phone number when creating the new user account on the Windows 10 Pro machine.

The third step was to create a new password-protected user account with administrator privileges on the Windows 7 Pro machine with the exact same username and password as the new local account on the Windows 10 Pro machine.

When I attempted to share/access a file on the Windows 10 Pro machine from the Windows 7 Pro machine, I simply entered the new username and password from above when asked for my network credentials and puff, it worked.

A similar process was followed for networking the Windows 10 Pro and Home machines.

 

Printer isn´t working after latest update.

After the latest update from Windows, my Canon Pixma ip6600 printer isnt working. In Device Manager it shows up as working properly but when I go to print it isn´t listed as an option in any programs. Troubleshoot suggests it´s a USB 2 printer on a USB
3 port and that that´s the problem but that cant be since it worked fine before the update. I´ve tried to uninstall and plug it back in but that doesn´t work either.
