Windows 10: Files from my documents folder disapeared.

After uninstalling several programs, I started up my computer to find all of my files only in the my documents folder to be gone. I did not back up these files; they are not files I need but would like to have. I ran a system restore but it only brought the few files associate with the programs I deleted. I tried using autopsy and recuva to find and restore the files but nothing worked. I restarted in safe mode and that did not work either. The shortcuts still exist but I get the "it might be moved or deleted message." I also ran a commercial antivirus scan which came up clean. My computer is running fine and a hard drive scan also came up clean.


Are there any solutions? I feel like I may have expended all of my resources.

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.
