    Files sizes for photos and videos showing as much larger than actual. Can't open/transfer.


    A couple of months ago I transferred some photos and videos from my phone to my desktop computer. All was well at the time - fast forward to today, I attempted to open some of the photos in the folder, and all I get is a blank screen - something 'trying' to open. I did as much investigation as I could with my limited abilities, only to find that windows is WAY exaggerating the file size ...

    you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.



    • What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • What is the make and model of the PC?
    • How were the files transferred? (Is it through File Explorer or Photos App)
    • Does the same issue occur for a newly clicked images that are transferred?


    Please help us with the above information for further investigation and provide you the correct troubleshooting suggestion.

    Thank you for sharing the feedback hub link.

    We have informed this to our concern team and we are investigating on it.

    Meanwhile, we would suggest you to transfer the photos and videos in small number and not in bulk. Check what number or size of the file you can transfer without any issue and can access them with ease.

    Let us know the results. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.

    • What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
      - Windows 10 Version 1903( OS build 18362.836)
    • What is the make and model of the PC? - Lenovo Yoga 2
    • How were the files transferred? (Is it through File Explorer or Photos App)- File Explorer
    • Does the same issue occur for a newly clicked images that are transferred? - The issue did not occur when I transferred single files. It only occurred when I transferred the folder with images and short videos in it.
