Windows 10: Find and lock lost laptop by with Find My Device in windows 10

I lost my laptop yesterday, so I login in to my Microsoft account to locate it by Find My Device See the below pic. It shows the location of my last use, but it can not located currently. When I use lock button to lock it, it says it can not be locked currently. Does it mean it never be connected to the internet since lost? Will the lock function work if some reinstall the windows system completely?

• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Find and lock a lost Windows device


If your desktop, laptop, tablet, or Surface is lost or stolen, use Find my device to locate and lock it remotely.

To find the lost device, it must be running Windows 10 and be signed in to your Microsoft account. You can also use Find my phone to find, locate, lock, and even erase your Windows Phone.

Notes

• You must be signed in to the lost device with a Microsoft account for which you're the administrator. If you're using a work or school account, Find my device won't work.
• To send its location, your device must be connected to the Internet, have enough battery power, and use GPS.
