No problem! *Biggrin In fact while going to check on one download to see the 64bit 42 go on I found that has the word stub in the file name indicating I grabbed the 32bit without realizing it! Mozilla didn't bother to put anything but "stub" in the file name to differ the two flavors at all and can be misleading at times.

Generally it's much easier finding File Hippo, Download.cnet, majorgeeks, softpedia, or any other file sharing site you know is clean and then find what you are looking for much faster! Even better is going to the SorceForge sire where you can look up not only the browser but all options for downloads! The Cyberfox 42 also sees both flavors with the 64bit found at Cyberfox - Browse Files at SourceForge.net

Another option would be Firefox Dev Edition (x64) run side by side as they use separate profiles,
(although, I suggest making Dev the default and don't run them side by side if you're short on RAM)

  3. I was simply explaining if you were looking for the alternative you would have to go elsewhere. Often you end up having to look around when not finding links for both on the same page. The SourceForge page there provides the list of releases in both flavors for the other browser however.

Ahh, understand now. Rapport is a security add-on/extension provided by IBM (Trusteer) and recommended by many Banks worldwide. It is free and available for various OS and browsers - but not 64bit Firefox, only the 32bit version.

I wasn't concerned in finding Firefox 64bit; I have that running alongside the 32bit version on my laptop already, but thanks anyway.

I've been using the developer x64 version for months...*Wink It's fine & no need to be afraid of it if it says "developer" because it runs exactly like the non-developer versions. The developer version tacks on a few things for web-developers that you never have to use if you don't want and in daily operation there's no difference between the developer & non-developer versions.

Wow FF 64 with ublock origin is smokin' fast on my system. Much faster than Pale Moon. I'm loading CNN.com in about half a second. I now have 2 FFs, one 32bit and one 64 bit. I'll keep the 32bit on the side for now. Thanks for the info and link to the download.

It's no different then Waterfox as far as how fast pages load. They use the same essentials only seeing two different names one being developed independent of Mozilla. You can sure the Waterfox 40 was the base line for FF 42 however since everything is identical.

Pale Moon was another alternative but strayed a bit further away from where FF and Waterfox was headed. Cyberfox 40.0 and suddenly 40.01 that came out in a flash to follow runs along side those two but uses a different base line apparently since either of the other can run at the same time with any clash there. Pale Moon does seem to pale in comparison to those three.

  9. Hmmm - wouldn't agree there. Pale Moon performs outstandingly, and has kept pace while retaining the older interface (which is a boon if you're anti-Australis)

  10. That would be Cyberfox there were you simply uncheck one item during the install. That would be the Australian GUI items you would uncheck.

That's in it's own world there as far as being a bit different while originally having been derived from the earlier FF builds. It makes for a good secondary but still has to compete with the parallel FF/Waterfox superiority complex there. I would also include Pale Moon in the secondary category as well. That doesn't denote either of those two however. Flock, Google Anything! note, and some others excluding Netscape which was good in it's day fall into ..... and I'll leave it like that! *Biggrin

I don't know why Mozilla has been so reserved with the Windows x64 version of Firefox. 64-bit FF has been around for Linux for a long time, and those of us who have been using the pre-release builds, dev builds, or unofficial builds have had good results with it for Windows, but it took them YEARS to release it... and now that they have, they're very reticent about it. I don't know what they are waiting for to make it available to people who aren't "in the know."

I switched from Firefox x86 to Pale Moon a long time ago, when PM was still using the Firefox profiles. When they started using their own (like Cyberfox), it was no big deal to copy the data over, but when PM started using its own application GUID, a lot of the addons I won't do without no longer worked. That was when I discovered/switched to Waterfox (and Cyberfox; I tried both and found little difference, other than that CF released updated versions of the browser much quicker).

When Firefox x64 finally made it to the beta channel, I gave that a try instead, and I discovered that in the Peacekeeper benchmark, it outperformed Waterfox (despite Waterfox using the faster Intel compiler, which they tout as an advantage) and Cyberfox (despite them having an Intel-optimized build), and Pale Moon was far behind the three other browsers.

I never had any problems with the beta builds of FF x64 in terms of bugs or general crashiness, and I used them from the first few days they were available. Contrast that to the release version of Firefox (x86), which crashed several times a day because of memory limitations (as revealed by some automatic Firefox restarter addon, which would detect when contiguous memory was getting low and give a warning... if I did not allow it to restart FF, it would always crash soon after that). The "unstable" 64-bit version they were being so cautious about was such a massive improvement over the "stable" release version... I never understood why they were being so slow and tentative with 64-bit, especially since they already had 64-bit in Linux, and I think Mac OSX too.

As far as Australis and Cyberfox... CF simply bundles Classic Theme Restorer, or "CTF" as it is called during installation.
