Windows 10: firewall problems when installing build 1803 from 1709

Am encountering possible Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security migration problems when MS Update installs/upgrades Win10 64bit to build 1803 from build 1709.

Custom inbound rules are not being fully imported (or carried) over from 1709 to 1803, and my Santronics WINserver suite does not function properly under build 1803.


I suspect it is firewall related, as previous updates from pre-1709 to current 1709 build had similar problem, however I was able to resolve the issue by importing my exported .wfw policy into build 1709. This remedy does not work with the build 1803 update.

I was getting it on installing Build 1803; also, on 2018-5, build 1709 (KB4134661). I ran Troubleshooter and it fixed the 1709 problem but not 1803. I ran Troubleshooter again and got the message," Windows Update Database corruption." Clicking Fix
It doesn't seem to work as it doesn't get rid of the 1803 download and reload it.

Besides what Vijay is suggesting check first that your machine is compatible with 1803.

Link provided by Andre Da Costa will tell you if you are compatible up to the previous version 1709. If you are not compatible with 1709 at least then don't install 1803.

I have 2 machines that i have blocked the update cause of incompatibility.
