For me, the Start Screen in 8.1 is a pretty distant memory, but if I wanted to open a program I didn't use all that much, it was like hunting for Easter eggs . . .

OMGosh, that is one busy Start screen! And I guess where we differ is that my "start screen" is my Quick Launch Bar. I have deleted most of the apps from Start; those I use on a regular basis reside in Quick Launch. And I wasn't exactly 'splaining navigation with Page Up/Down and the arrow keys; I was very much surprised (and delighted) that it would work that way. *Smile With all that said, I only use Start when I want to use a program I don't have in Quick Launch. The only problem I have with Quick Launch now is that sometimes the icons sometimes get relegated to a blank, which is disconcerting.

I can agree with that; Start in Windows 10 is a mess; that's why I continue to use Quick Launch. Windows 7 had the best Start menu, but I can't even remember what it was like; bootup was so much faster in Windows 8 than Windows 7 that I jumped ship and forced myself to get along with Windows 8/8.1.

In the end, we all work differently. Microsoft seems to be listening to us, so hopefully they'll continue to do so. I don't use tablet mode, but if you want it to work, then it should. It's as simple as that.

I already have it thru Insider program, made ISO of it too but was going to get latest stuff, maybe a bit different. I think I'll wait till next week, right now I'm on metered (15GB) connection using a smartphone. My regular WiFi antenna/rooter croaked and ISP can't bring another til Monday so they gave mi a 3G card to tidy me up.

I'm downloading the ISO so I'm sure that I have the correct version/build. Later on I might do a clean install.

  9. A sweet change in the clean install from iso...if you have previously upgraded from 8.1 you will no longer get the product key "nag" screens during install.*Smile
