Windows 10: Fix for Windows 10 System Tray icons shifting automatically.

I've come across a few threads where some "all in one" or newer laptops that may have touch screens have issues with the system tray resizing or shifting. I happened to come across one of these today. It was a laptop, and being certified by the vendor to repair it I was able to obtain the repair manual for the system. We removed the Keyboard, Trackpad and Battery cables from the system and let it run normally while connected to the DC power supply and used an external keyboard and mouse to log in. Ironically, the system behaved just the same under the original user account, as well as my account, so we ruled out that it is a problem with a user profile setting.


The next thing we tried was disabling the TouchScreen feature in the BIOS and rebooting with the internal components still disconnected, and voila. There was something with the driver controlling the TouchScreen feature after it booted in to Windows that started the odd behavior with just the system tray. The screen was perfectly clean and did not have any physical anomalies on it (we checked every inch to make sure there was no gum or nasty residue). Once we reconnected everything back up to the system board and restarted, the behavior returned again, to both accounts. Seeing as how it would a time waster to disconnect everything, we just disabled the TouchScreen feature once more and restarted, and the jerking around stopped once more.


We're not sure if this is a permanent fix to the issue or what is causing it, but it worked for us on a Dell laptop with a touch screen feature. Not all of them have this problem, but if we see it again, we'll be sure to disable the TouchScreen option in the BIOS before yanking wires

Can I have a tray icon for automatic maintenance windows 10

As the title says.

On windows 8.1 I have a small flag in the tray with a little clock to let me see that it's working, if so I usually let it do it's thing for 20 minutes or so till it's finished for that day.

Is it possible do get a tray icon in windows 10 to see if it's busy with maintenance?

I suggest you to try the below steps to add the icons to Taskbar and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key, click on Settings.
• Click on System> Notifications & actions.
• Click on Select which icons appear on taskbar (to select the icons that appear on Taskbar)
  and also click on Turn system icons on or off

Minimize to icon tray not working in Windows 10 Anniversary Edition

Since updating to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition, RealTemp is no longer minimizing to my icon tray. Is anyone else having these issues?
