Windows 10: Flashdrive Encryption options

Evening all,

I'm reformatted a few of my flash drives this evening with a view to encrypting them. One is a SanDisk drive and the other is an Integral drive.

The SanDisk drive came with SanDiskSecureAccess 3.0 with an upgrade option for EncryptStick 6.0 for $12.99

The Integral Drive has no encryption.

I'm just wondering if anybody has any experience with The SanDisk encryption and whether it is preferred over Bitlockertogo

Hmmmm... not really sure what you are trying to do here... what do you mean by 'download a flashdrive'? Are you trying to copy the contents of a flashdrive to your phone? What's on the flashdrive -- photos, video, music, files???



Or is this some sort of 'virtual flashdrive' you want to create on your phone? If this last option, I don't think that's going to be possible, given the file structure on the WP platform...

For anyone still facing this issue, I also came here looking for solutions. Tried many things - booted the pc from Win10 install flashdrive and tried command line solutions using bcdedit commands to rebuild and repair boot sector. No luck and the machine
still refused to see c: drive, so chkdsk could do nothing. Diskpart reported the Windows partition as RAW, so I looked into ways to restore it to NTFS - no luck. Tried TestDisk, rebuilding boot sectors and MFT. That would not work - TestDisk reported main
and backup boot sector files, as well as main and backup MFT files as bad - not recoverable.

Then it occurred to me that the drive was encrypted with one of the Symantec/PGP products, so I went looking there and found that in some cases, the drive encryption software had caused crashes with similar symptoms, where machine won't boot, Win10 auto-repair
fails and C: drive can't be accessed at all for command line operations.

Symantec have a recovery utility available, which you download as an ISO, and then create a boot CD/DVD/flashdrive.

This is what solved my issue. The utility boots the machine and searches for Symantec/PGP-encrypted boot drives. If it finds any, then you are given the option to decrypt after entering your Symantec PassPhrase. Decryption took several hours and when finished,
the machine rebooted and I was able to recover using a system restore point.

So if your drive is encrypted with Symantec/PGP, you may want to look into this option.
