Windows 10: Focus Assist Won't Automatically Turn On

I enabled the settings for Focus Assist to turn on automatically both when I'm playing a game and when I am running an app full screen. However, Focus Assist remains off and my games continue to be interrupted by notifications that I am thankful for any other time. This is most important to me for a multiplayer first-person shooter game called Hell Let Loose, but I tested other full-screen games with the same results. I saw an answer to another person's Microsoft question that said Focus Assist automatically turning on for a game only works for DirectX games, but Hell Let Loose is specifically

If you turn off Get notifications from apps and other senders, it will disable notifications from everything except Windows system notifications.

Turning on Focus Assist will turn off all notifications until you turn off Focus Assist.

Thank you. Could you give me examples of Windows system notifications and can all of them be disabled? So, if I turn off the "get notifications from apps and other senders" setting I don't even have to disable other notifications' settings which remain turned on?
