Windows 10: Folder found.000 unable to delete

Hi MVPs,


I am having an issue with deleting found.000 folder. OS is windows 10 pro.

There is an invincible .chk file in there cannot be seen anywhere in file explorer

In command prompt however, using command dir /a:hd F:\found.000, the file can be seen


Tried multiple methods to add permission for found.000 folder and to have it push the same permission to the files in it but am always getting "failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied"

Even using command lines to grant access, it is giving error access denied.


Hoping someone can provide me with a solution

Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

Will I be forever stuck with these unnecessary folders? *Oh Well hwell:

 

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.

 

Windows 10 - Unable to clear or delete found.000 or dir0000.chk

Using WinTree I have found the found.000 folder on my pc. This is a hidden folder which contains dir0000.chk which is 9.8Gb in size. I have been unable to empty or delete this folder despite giving myself full admin permissions. If it was a small folder
I wouldn't be particularly bothered but it is 9.8Gb of unwanted data.

If anyone has any suggestions I will be extremely grateful.
