Windows 10: Folder Object Name desynchronized with displayed name

I got a new computer with only a 256 GB SSD and installed Windows on it.

Because I have a considerable amount of other personal files on my computer, I decided to Move the big folders like "Documents" and "Music" from the SSD C:/Users/Seth my username folder to a hard drive.

I then wanted to move the Music folder back to the myuser folder and messed up when naming the folder I was moving it to.

Now the Music folder has "become" the Seth folder in my SSD.

After this happened, I restored the default location of it which I should have done in the first place and it reset it to the C:/Users/Seth folder, but because the Seth folder is now named Music and the name can't be changed, Windows seems to think they are the same things.


Here is the current folder structure of my SSD:




When I open the Properties > General window of Music, you can see how the folder does not want to change its name and it is read only:




When I open the properties > Security window of Music, you can see how the Folder thinks it's the Seth Folder. If scroll down, it also has inherited the permissions of the Seth folder:





All I want to do is return the folder back to the C:\Users\Seth folder and have it show that way in File Explorer. Currently the way the file system is structured is not impacting the usage of my system in any way, it's just really annoying to have my Windows User folder called and look like the "Music" folder.

How to display the full name or change name width in folder list view?

on the my old computer (xp/win7), list View is display the full name,
the way to display the name is based on the length of the file name,like Picture 1

I am not asking for "detail" View

User Account folder name

I understand that you are facing issues with changing the folder name under Users folder in Windows 10.

I suggest you to perform the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Open the File Explorer and double click on C drive.

2. Open Users folder from the list.

3. Click on the user name folder and then tap on F2 Key.

4. Change the name of the folder and hit on Enter Key.

5. It will ask for Administrator Permission and click on Ok.

6. Folder name will be changed.
