  1. Force resync Wi-Fi profiles from MS Account?

Is there a way to force resync Wi-Fi profiles from the Microsoft Account? I was trying to fix some Wi-Fi driver issue on my tablet and poof, all the profiles were gone. I'm not referring to Wi-Fi Sense but the old Windows 8 profile sync where it restores your Wi-Fi profiles when you link your Microsoft Account, and just your saved profiles only.

Right now my workaround is to use netsh and import the profiles from my laptop, but it does it one at a time, quite difficult from my touchscreen.

    :)

  2. BBM causes W8 phone to crash

After I determined that the Network Hub update was causing the major wi-fi profile issue on Lumia Cyan and also determined that if the update wasn't applied would allow only one wi-fi profile to be added to the phone's wi-fi profile list without the phone
crashing unlike when the update was applied causing the phone to crash when multi wi-fi profiles were stored in the phone's wi-fi profile list apart from when wi-fi profiles for buses and trams were stored causing the phone not to crash strangely as well as
having automatic updates enabled on the phone as well as locations enabled causing the phone to crash, however since I applied Lumia Denim with Cortana on Thursday morning the problems are now rectified and the phone is now running happily without crashing,
thank you to everyone who was involved with helping to resolve these issues as well as at Microsoft.

    wifi calling and sending mms

    Hi greg47,

By design, you can only send plain text messages or SMS if you're connected to the Wi-Fi calling feature. If you need to send MMS, you need to disconnect from Wi-Fi calling feature.

To disconnect from the Wi-Fi calling feature, go to Wi-Fi calling from the application list (swipe left from the home screen) > go to Settings > toggle Wi-Fi calling to off.

Force resync Wi-Fi profiles from MS Account?

WiFi and machine profiles are not stored in your Roaming profile. You have to save the WiFi profile on a USB stick or keep it on a network or cloud server, so that you can download it back to the machine.

If you are taking the wifi info from one machine to another, it will not work if the hardware is different. You need to type in the WiFi key for those SSID's that you plan on connecting to.

  5. I don't think so. I'm positive that I had Wi-Fi profiles synced from my Microsoft Account the last time I installed Windows from scratch.

Also copying the profile via netsh export works, even with key exported (just need to specify key=clear). I know because I just did a few profiles.

Again you cannot move profiles for networking from one machine to another. You can save the SSID and Passphrase for Access Points. Shares you can if you use a script to assign those statics IP's for the shares.

The biggest issue is with how Windows 10 is a little bitchy with Network shares still.

Wifi Profiles certainly are stored in your MS account.

I did a clean install last week and when I connected to my MS account I got all of my old known networks shown under Manage Known Networks under Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage Wi-fi settings.

I'm not sure how you can force it but make sure that your MS account is verified (check under Settings > Accounts > Your email and accounts) and all your Sync Settings are turned on (under Settings > Sync your settings).

I clean install a lot and also install in VM's and have never have to do anything special to get them restored. The only changes I make to Wi-Fi is to turn off Wi-fi sense and Paid Wi-Fi services then when connecting to MS account they are picked up automatically (going back to profiles I connected to when running Windows 8).

I don't think we're talking about the same things here. The behaviour described by lx07 is what I'm looking for, just seeing if there's a way to trigger that sync outside of initial Windows setup.

Last resort I'll take the long way, restore from Windows 8 or a previous 10 image, then export from there. I actually had a backup but my USB decided to corrupt on me.

I think it might be "passwords" but it is hard to test as MS don't detail what is synched and under what conditions.

It was more obvious in 8.

With Windows 10 you have to guess what upgrades do, what settings do, what anything does (today and possibly differently tomorrow).
