Windows 10: Four different methods to upgrade laptop from 1809 to 1909 fail.

SFC reports everything is OK. chkdsk reports everything is OK. In all attempts hardware compatibility was verified. The failure always occurs when the upgrade reaches 92% then it hangs for hours. After reboot, it restores v1809. No error number was displayed. Perhaps it was recorded in a log?
The first attempt was when the upgrade was offered in Settings\Updates.
The second attempt was using the MediaCreationTool1909.
The third attempt I tried with Windows10Upgrade9252.
The fourth attempt was using the USB installation media and running Setup.exe from Windows.
The currently installed OS is Windows 10 Home rel.1809 version 17763.914. The hardware is an Acer Aspire 5 with AMD Ryzen 3 3200U CPU and 8GB RAM. Are there any other options?

Upgraded to 1903 but it still 1809

At this point I am just exploring this topic and listening to all opinions.

Upgrading from 1809 to 1903 on my desktop was painless and error free, but it was forced upon me by MS. They ignored my update delay settings, and suddenly and unexpectedly the update/upgrade began. I resigned to it because I have four 1809 Macrium mirrors. If 1903 failed, I could easily restore.

Currently, I still have 1809 on the laptop. Are you suggesting to upgrade from 1809 to 1909? Now, 1909 is offered on the settings\updates page. I made two attempts to upgrade from 1809 to 1903. The first attempt was from the update link in the settings\updates and the second attempt was from Microsoft's update site - both failed. Based on this recent experience, the 1909 update will also fail because of Acer.

Well would't you know it. I did everything, every step, all the suggestions, months of failed downloads and was going to wipe everything tomorrow and start again, but remembered I hadn't tried your suggestion of updating to 1809 before 1903/09, and blow
me down, but it's updated to 1809 with ease!

I have yet to dare to try and get it to update to 1909 but it's the 1st progress in months, so thanks.

 

Upgraded to 1903 but it still 1809

Upgraded to version 1903 on my Acer laptop (which came with Windows 10 Home 1809). After everything completed and rebooted, I checked the version in Settings and it still shows version 1809, but the Updates display offers the next release 1909. I used another utility to check and it also displays 1809. So, I am not sure what to do next. Any suggestions please?
