Windows 10: Freeze with mouse activity

When I get finished installing windows it asked me to download the updates. Could that be an issue? It has never went all the way through without messing up. Windows 10 update is a pos unless I am missing something. Maybe it is corrupting something

 

Try a different power plan.

 

How does it run if you boot to Safe Mode?

Start Menu, Power Icon, hold down the shift key and click Restart.

 

New wrinkle. I installed pubg to see how it would do with a game. It runs and starts the game fine, plays the whole round and when I go to exit to lobby it hangs every time.

 

Thanks for the reply Ztruker. I have not run it much in safe mode. I will give that a shot as well.

 

I have been browsing the net and just messing around like normal for 35 minutes in safe mode. Not a single freeze. Guess I can rule out hardware then. Should I just reinstall windows till I get a clean install and update? Im just not sure the best approach with win10

I'd give clean boot a try to see if you might can narrow down what might be causing the freezing - Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Performance Maintenance Tutorials

Try turning off Fast Startup - Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

If you haven't already, I'd also look at updating the Nvidia Driver.

Will the log collector offer anything of value? It's not giving me bsod. Just freezes up and requires a power cycle.

 

The log collector collects files that have already been generated that can display problems with the computer.

If your using the latest video driver try older driver versions. I had a similar problem on a Acer Aspire laptop. Through trial and error I found out it was the updated video driver.

 

I am running I believe 388.xxx. It's not the newest but dated around Christmas. I thought the same thing. I can't help but wonder if it's the m.2 ssd. My 2nd hd should be here today. It's a sata ssd. May install op on that just to eliminate it.
