    Frequent BSODs daily: driver_irql_not_less_than_or_equal -> netio.sys

2016 Alienware 17(R4) usually crashes several times per day (unfortunately windows minidump only had 4 files). Crashes usually occur while I'm gaming (world of warcraft), yet it also crashes while i'm merely browsing internet or looking at youtube.

The specific bsod message is in the title. The BSOD says "NETIO.SYS" failed.

    My zip file is attached.

Actions I took to eliminate these BSODs (if relevant)
    - updated bios and drivers to no avail
    - right-clicked on every device in device manager & selected update driver (updated several drivers this way)
    - updated/scanned computer with malwarebytes & bitdefender (no malware or viruses)
    - used dell supportassist to update drivers & bios, scan hardware, clean files & tune performance
    - downloaded latest display driver from nvidia.com
    - none of the above actions fixed the problem.

    :)

  2. Frequent BSOD

    Hello,

As per the title, I am experiencing a range of BSOD errors daily. Perhaps once every 2-3 hours or so, and it seems to crash more often the more program I’m running simultaneously. Though this could be mere coincidence.
I'll list some of the recent error messages here:

    • Win32kfull.sys failed
    • System service exception
    • Werfault.exe failed
    • Page fault in non paged area
    • System thread exception not handled
    • Critical process died
    • Nvlddmkm.sys failed
    • Dxgmms2.sys failed
    • Unexpected store exception
    • Unexpected kernel mode trap
And I’m sure there are others I haven’t taken the time to log. Clearly something is seriously wrong.

    Troubleshooting steps taken include:

    • Updating gpu driver
    • Uninstalling 3rd party antivirus software

    As per this guide:

    BSOD Finding and fixing them

I'm including the following to help diagnose the problem:

    • recent .dmp files (only two appear in the minidump folder for some reason)
    • MSinfo output
    • System specs (should be in MSinfo. Ask if you require further details)

You can download these from my onedrive here:

    BSOD Nathan items 2-23-2018

I’m not sure what troubleshooting steps to take from here, so any advice would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Nathan

    Edit:

I've also taken the following troubleshooting steps:

    - Updated Windows

    - Updated device drivers, via SDI

    Frequent BSODs - L1C63x64.sys

    Hi bobjbain,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Alcohol120% and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    • Uninstall Daemon Tools
    • Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

    Frequent BSODs daily: driver_irql_not_less_than_or_equal -> netio.sys [IMG]

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window.
