Windows 10: From command prompt can i get to safe mode in windows 10 ?

msconfig DOES RUN from the Command Prompt OR by using the run command. In this case the user can only access his DOS Prompt ....nothing else.

 

Your only choice might end up doing a Repair Install. Read the tutorial and see if it helps you.

In the future hvphotog Once you get your Windows OS back and running correctly. I suggest you make a complete image backup using Macrium Reflect, and keep that image on a 2nd drive, or a External drive (Best Choice) so if something like this happens again, you will only need to restore your saved image. Macrium Reflect is a Free program.

msconfig doesn't work from the cmd at boot. You can use bcdedit to set safemode though

Right now doing a clean install of windows 10..

it is asking about which partition to put windows on, which of the 6 in the pictures below would be the correct drive to pick ? and if i pick the wrong what would could be the ramifications ?

 

Select 5. The install will write new recovery files to 1 and 2

 

i selected 5 and this popped up
