    Recently my old laptop started dying on me, so I bought a new one. Unlike in the past, cd's and documentation, nothing but a box and a computer.......huh, okay. I fire it up and then it starts the welcome to Windows and your new world? You must create an account with us.....but I don't want an account with you. You must provide us with personal information, once again, don't mind registering my product but I really want nothing to do with you. Well, you can't use your brand new computer unless you do. Okay, now I have an "account" with.....you must tell us more. Why? Because we won't authorize your install unless you do.....wtf? Uh, okay....can I now use my computer. Yes you can, but we must monitor everything you do on your computer. You must log in to our servers and let us know everything you do.....it's for your own benefit. And every time you boot up, your screen will tell everyone your e-mail address....in case you forget. So I spend hours trying to figure how to stop all of this madness, with limited success. Now I need office programs through MS HUP. We need more information from you. But I just want to do what I used to do. No, you must use the cloud now. We must data mine everything you do. Why can't I just live like I used to live. That was the past, you must pay subscriptions and we must keep a record of everything you do, so you can do more. But I PAID you for just the programs.....I don't want any on your services. I'm just trying to get Outlook19 and Excel running without linking to you.....sorry, you must link to us. How did I get Office 365, I never asked for it but somehow I logged in just to get it running and now I have it?......."crickets"......


    Now you know why the manufacturer is getting their laptop back.......and after a lifetime of MS......I'm going to Mac.

    OMG I am back after a day of total frustration

    I believe you, it is ideed frustrating. Then again everything that involves calling support is frustrating. Is your problem solved by now or what will be the next steps?

    Hi,

    Thank you for using Windows 10.

    We regret for the inconvenience caused and understand the frustration when things do not work as expected.
    I would suggest you to follow the steps and check:

    • Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
    • Click File > Run New Task
    • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
    • Type CMD
    • Type the following 4 commands at the CMD prompt:

      dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

      sfc /scannow

      powershell

      Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
    • Close the CMD window
    Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.

    OMG I am back after a day of total frustration

    For the most yes it is back to normal speeds are not quite up to what they usualy are so I may have to call them up and make some threats *Roll Eyes Frustrated & Furious :rolleyes:
